SASA Membership aims to positively impact the security industry by promoting the importance of compliance and highlighting the risk of non-compliance, not only to the security industry as a whole, but especially to the end-users and consumers of security services.
The Main Collective Agreement of the National Bargaining Council for the Private Security Sector
The Security Association of South Africa has various categories of membership: Gold, Gold Affiliate, Candidate, Individual and Honorary Life. All members must show documentary proof of Registration in terms of the Private Security Industry Regulation Act No 56 of 2001 or any amendment thereto.
SASA has, because of the massive growth in the private security sector and the ignorance of legislation by the vast majority of such new security service providers, introduced two new membership categories for security businesses in our membership portfolio –
- Ordinary membership
Available to security companies who are registered with PSIRA and the industry bargaining council, where SASA will – during the 6-month validity of such membership – guide and assist such companies to register and become compliant with all other requirements to enable them to become eligible for Gold membership.
- Candidate membership
Available to start-up and micro sized security companies who are registered with PSIRA only and the industry bargaining council, where SASA will – during the 6-month validity of such membership – guide and assist such companies to register and become compliant with all other requirements to enable them to become eligible for Ordinary and even Gold membership.
These two new categories will not have the same quality or value as our Gold membership, but SASA is committed to, in every possible legitimate way, uplift the quality and reputation of the private security industry.in South Africa.
