SASA MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS
- Membership of the premier security association within Southern Africa, recognized by the Government, SAPS and Municipalities as having members with a proven track record within the industry and a Code of Ethics by which members must abide;
- Monthly copy of Security Focus magazine (normal subscription fee R400 p.a.);

- Founder member of the Security Industry Alliance;

SASA MEMBERSHIP FEES 2010/2011
The Security Association of South Africa has six categories of membership and these are detailed below.

GOLD GROUP

Entrance fee : R600
Subscription fee: R2750
|
The employees of such a group member shall be represented by one official representative nominated by the group concerned who shall have the same rights and privileges as an individual member. A group member shall be entitled to send any of its staff to attend Association activities and functions on the same terms and conditions as Affiliate members.

GROUP

GOLD GROUP BRANCH

This category of membership is for divisions, branches or subsidiaries of larger companies who are Existing Group Members of the association. Group branch members are afforded the same privileges as normal group members within the SASA branch concerned.

INDIVIDUAL

An individual member shall be someone who is primarily engaged in a security function in a company, firm, partnership, institution, association or any other legal persona and who holds an executive management or supervisory position which in the opinion of the National Committee is of sufficient seniority and experience to qualify for individual membership. An individual member shall be entitled to vote at all meetings of the Association either in person or by proxy and to hold any office in the association.

ASSOCIATE

Entrance fee: R100
Subscription: R540

Associate membership may be granted to anyone who is directly involved with security, but who, by virtue of his lack of seniority or experience or for any other reason does not qualify for individual membership. An Associate member is entitled to attend any meetings of the Association but will only be entitled to vote at branch meetings and shall only be entitled to hold office at branch level, excluding that of chairman.

AFFILIATE

Affiliate membership may be granted to anyone who is employed by a group member, the central government or who is a member of any recognized learning institute in south Africa or a person employed in the fire, safety or medical services. Any affiliate member shall be entitled to attend any meetings of the association but shall not be entitled to vote nor to hold any office in the association.

CANDIDATE

Candidate membership may be granted to anyone who, in the opinion of the national committee, is directly involved with security and who by virtue of his lack of seniority or experience or for any other reason, does not qualify for individual membership. A candidate member shall be entitled to attend any meetings of the Association but will not be entitled to vote at National or Branch level. A candidate member is not entitled to receive his own personal copy of security focus magazine. However, he will receive all notifications of branch meetings and other informative material from branch and national level

CODE OF CONDUCT
As a member of the Security Association of South Africa I undertake, with the help of the Almighty and in accordance with the highest moral principles at all times to:
- Ensure to the best of my ability the protection of the facilities and assets against criminal, subversive and hostile elements, irrespective of my political beliefs.
- Abide by the laws governing the State, to originate and to promote improvements to the law and administration, and to promote beneficial legislation or other measures affecting the Association
- Conform and abide by the constitution of the Security Association of South Africa
- Utilize my knowledge and expertise to maintain the highest code of moral ethics and justice at all times
- Avoid acting with malice, lack of care or responsibility, to the prejudice of a client, employee or employer, a colleague or a competitor or the public interest, or the Association.
- Honour the trust and faith placed in me as a Security Professional and member of the Association.
